The Heritage Coalition through the efforts of the Coalition Community Advisory Board has developed an exhibit showcasing
the Historic Churches of Transylvania County. The exhibit has just opened at the Tinsley Museum and Transylvania County
Heritage Center located at 20 West Jordan Street in Brevard, NC. The photo exhibit provides visitors to the Heritage Center
with a look back at former Church buildings along with existing Churches.
"Because the Churches of Transylvania County have played (and continue to play) such a major role in the County's
development over the years", noted Tony Morrow, director of the Tinsley Museum, "we are very excited to have this exhibit
at the Heritage Center". "We are so very thankful that the Heritage Coalition and specifically the Community Advisory Board
members took on this very important project".
The Historic Churches of Transylvania County exhibit was first displayed at Heritage Day on May 20th. Plans are to continue
adding photos, documents and artifacts as folks make them available. "We realize there are many more photos and items within
the county that we could add to this exhibit", explained Betty Sherrill, chairman of the Coalition's Community Advisory Board.
"As folks become aware of this exhibit, we hope they will want to loan or donate their photos, documents and artifacts. As a
result, the exhibit will continue to grow and provide an even larger experience for visitors".
