Threads of A Cowboy

"Threads Of A Cowboy" Quilt

The idea for the "Threads of a Cowboy" quilt as a fund raiser for the Jim Bob Tinsley Museum in Brevard N.C. was conceived by Crystal Austin of Janesville, WI in October of 2003. The idea was to make a quilt with some article of cowboy celebrity attire to be sold with proceeds benefiting the museum.

Dottie Tinsley asked her cowboy friends (who were lifelong friends of Jim Bob and Dottie through Jim Bob's work in music and writing) to donate the shirt off their backs to the project. A total of 33 were requested and were received. Crystal, with assistance, then formed them into blocks, with each shirt being sewn into a hat and boot block. The final quilt measures 7 feet wide by 12 ½ feet long.

The quilt was sold on January 20th in Phoenix.

However, the posters are still available for sale from the museum. If you would like a poster call the museum at 828-884-2347 or send an email to quilt@jimbobtinsleymuseum.org.
