Storyteller Sylvia Payne

“We Have Stories to Tell”

Spetember 8th at 6:30 p.m. in the Library Rogow Room

As part of North Carolina’s year-long celebration of arts, heritage, and cultural life entitled “Telling Our Stories” the library and the Transylvania Heritage Museum are bringing professional storyteller Sylvia Payne to the library in September. Sylvia Payne encourages her audiences to realize that sometimes they may have shared stories without evening realizing they had done so or that those stories may provide important links to historical events within their own families. Payne stresses the urgency of asking questions of our parents, and other elders, and drawing important topics to the surface, as a pertinent way of capturing family histories. Payne shares ways for audience members to determine what some of their stories may be and also shares some of her own.
